Ilenia Madelaire was born in Asuncion, Paraguay, and grew up in Miami, Florida. Her work focuses on a variety of subjects ranging from gender roles, consumerism, power dynamics, and the body. Her primary mediums are painting and drawing, and uses a collage approach where found photographs are melded together to create narratives. Preferring figuration, her work alternates between cartoonish and photo-realistic representations of the narratives.
